About
Privacy
AptKeys has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Lesson checkmarks are saved only in your own browser. Video preview panels are drawn by our own site, so nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Videos are embedded with YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and don't load until you press play. Once a video plays, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
The mailing list
The weekly email is optional. You never need it to use AptKeys, and no lesson asks for it. You must be 13 or older to sign up.
What we keep when you sign up: your email address, the date and time you signed up, and the page you signed up from (like /money/ or the home page). That's the whole list. We don't ask for your name, and we don't keep your IP address, your browser, your location or anything else about you.
Why: the email address is so we can send you the weekly lesson or checklist. The date tells us when you joined, so we can honor it if you ask to be removed. The page tells us which spots on the site people find the signup, so we don't clutter the ones they don't.
Where it's kept: on Cloudflare, the company that hosts AptKeys, in a private storage space only we can read. We don't sell it, rent it or share it with advertisers.
Stopping spam: to slow down bots, the signup form makes a scrambled, one-way code from your connection's IP address and the date, and counts tries for one hour. Then the code deletes itself. The code can't be turned back into your IP address, and it isn't linked to your email. The form also has a hidden box that people never see; if a bot fills it in, nothing is saved.
Emails: nothing has been sent yet. We haven't picked an email service. When we do, we'll update this page first, name the service, and pass your address to it only to send the emails. Our emails won't have tracking pixels or tracked links, and every one will have a one-click unsubscribe link that takes you off the list.
Mistake reports
The Report a mistake form is optional and asks for no name. What we keep: the page you're reporting, what you wrote, the source link if you add one, your email only if you choose to give it for a reply, and the date and time. Nothing else. Why: so we can check the lesson against its sources and fix it, and, if you left an email, answer you. We use that email only to reply about your report, never for the mailing list. Where it's kept: in the same private Cloudflare storage space as the mailing list, which only we can read. Stopping spam: the form uses the same one-hour scrambled code and hidden box as the signup form, described above.
